Prototyping pens

Prototypes for the next-generation 3D interactive stylus.  Theoretical set of rapid prototyping nanopens which are digital sculpting tools. Designed for a team at MIT Media Lab and Tangible Interfaces.   Read the paper.

The draw/extrude pen creates shapes and extrudes surfaces out of a digital workspace.  The chisel is a subtractive tool, used to cut away or edit shapes.   The color stylus has three adjustable rings for hue, level and saturation.  Tapping the pen on the workspace changes the object to that color.   The optical elements tool paints on active regions of solar cells or OLED materials to illuminate a surface.
